Profile: | Cobham Technical Services develops and markets software for electromagnetic design covering the entire frequency spectrum with both 2D and 3D numerical based software. We have around 1900 installations of our products through 42 countries ranging from major multinationals to one man consultancies, as well as a large number of academic institutions and government research labs. The usage in the storage industry is primarily in head design but we are also developing tools for modelling the magnetization process in remanent media and we are interested in extending the capabilities of our software in these areas. In particular, we are very interested in improving models for materials that can be included in our finite element software. The clear advantage of working with a commercial vendor of this type of software is that the necessary interactive software tools for defining realistic models and displaying results are already available, as well as very efficient algorithms for equation solution etc. Micromagnetic modelling is becoming more important as device sizes reduce and inclusion of such models can lead to a more general hysteresis modelling capability. |
