Profile: | The Centre for Industrial and Engineering Optics (IEO) is a research centre located in the Dublin Institute of Technology, and associated with the School of Physics. The Centre specialises in holographic and interferometric techniques for industrial sensing, measurement and testing, and provides technical and R&D services to industry. IEO maintains a core of research expertise in holography and holographic materials development, interferometric systems and devices and optical profilometry which can be utilized by Irish industry for leading edge systems development and R&D. An overview of the non confidential aspects of our current research activities is provided here. Activities include applied research, contract R&D, and devlopment of Intellectual Property for Licensing. IEO also provides problem solving, design, measurement and consultation services. Dr Suzanne Martin’s research interests are primarily in holographic recording materials (recording processes, diffusion through polymer, holographic characterisation) and interferometric techniques for surface metrology (ESPI, white light interferometry, holographic intereferometry). Doctoral research work involved the optimisation and characterisation of a new polymeric holographic recording material for use in holographic interferometry and the manufacture of holographic optical elements. |
