Profile: | Ilika Technologies Ltd is a privately held company which was spun out of the University of Southampton in May 2004. Ilika quickly established a reputation for innovation, revenue generation and profitability in the high growth industry of materials development. As a result, the company has attracted investment from blue-chip investors who have provided the resources necessary to support the rapid growth of the company. Although many industries are addressable through the company’s high throughput technology, Ilika has chosen to focus upon the energy, electronics and biomedical sectors. The company’s technology and discovered materials are protected through worldwide patent applications. Ilika engages with customers through research collaborations and through the licensing of materials which Ilika has developed for different applications Ilika can cover a wide range of different market applications within the electronics sector to help customers advance their materials discovery programmes. The fast throughput approach to materials synthesis coupled with high throughput characterisation and screening means that Ilika can optimise materials with respect to a desired property in a much shorter timeframe. For phase change memory applications, for example, we can monitor the phase change behaviour of different alloys such as GeSbTe as a function of temperature. The optical and electrical behaviours of interesting compositions can then be studied in more detail. |
